Truly moving is one of the most taxing and difficult
physical exertions any average citizen does in their lifetime. Even the
smallest home is going to jam packed full of trinkets, furniture, appliances,
decorations, supplies and who knows what. Without the proper planning moving
can truly and quickly turn into the biggest nightmare anyone of us experience
in their recent life.
Because this is the case, getting some simple advice is critical as well as
planning on using professional movers to move the big stuff in the average
household.
The first advice that one should receive is too begin the moving process the as soon as the decision to move is made. When the decision to move is made, cleaning out areas of the house that are hardly used or used for storage will save time and energy as the real moving trials begin. Some of the areas considered as not very used or storage could be several of the closets around the home and the attic. De-cluttering and de-junking will free up tons of space and make the mind be able to rest at ease, and will actually help the home sell as the buyer will be able to see all the excess space.
Next, plan ahead by understanding the different preparations needed for the different places one could be moving. If the move is cross country, a moving service is going to almost be paramount. The moving service will safely pack up all the big items and such and get the truck across country safely and help move everything into the new home on schedule. If the move is international, then the regulations of the country need to be understood. Working with the state department is critical for that as they will know which common American household items are illegal in the country the mover is moving into. With all this said, most moves are fairly local, more like a home upgrade, means that the mover is probably moving a short distance and will be able to move themselves.
Moving oneself again just takes preparation. Buy a ton of boxes. The hardest part of moving is not having enough equipment to pack everything up. A mover can never have enough boxes, tape, markers, wrap, and boxing peanuts. Use the supplies liberally and make sure the boxes are light enough to move. It is better to make a lot of trips than have the boxes too heavy to move. Also pack up the boxes with definite categories. Double moving, meaning moving the boxes twice instead of once, is a huge problem created from the movers not knowing where the boxes go. Proper labeling will save a ton of time in the end.
Lastly, make or download and use a checklist. A checklist will greatly save time and relieve stress. Listing the list in priority or time in which things can be loaded up will be even more fantastic. So the last things that are going to want to be packed up are essential medicines and cleaning supplies along with changes of clothes and toiletries. The last priorities on the list should include things to keep the children occupied, laptops, and any other item that should be handled with especial care.
